The town of Lazise

The town of Lazise

With its colourful boats and serene waters, Lazise is a gorgeous place to visit. A small town situated on the tranquil shores of Lake Garda, Lazise is, though small, one of the jewels in the crown of the Veneto region. From its unforgettable natural scenery to the lovely historic old town itself, Lazise offers so much to see and do.

Lazise is filled with unique museums, galleries, bars, cafes and restaurants for travellers to explore. The most prominent landmark in Lazise is arguably the 14th century castle, which was built by the notorious Scaligeri family and which remains largely intact right down to the fortifications on its walls. The thirteenth century church nearby is another beautiful attraction of great historical and architectural interest. Perhaps most enticingly, Lazise has its own beach. Lake Garda offers very few sandy beaches, but one of them is at Lazise! Here, you can go boating, swimming, snorkelling and strolling on the sand. Lazise is also home to some exciting festivals all year round.

Traditional cuisine in the Lazise region
When visiting in Lazise, or in any region close to Lake Garda, it is highly recommended that you sample the traditional cuisine. Polenta, extra virgin olive oil and freshwater fish from the lake itself are all staples of the diet in Lazise and its environs. Local wines are ideal for accompanying the meal: try a bottle of Pere San Martin to start with, for instance. Local soups are delicious, but also tortellini and panna cotta.

Breathtaking scenery, historic buildings and delicious food combine in the town of Lazise, which has something to offer absolutely all visitors.
