Amazing Lake Garda

Amazing Lake Garda

Lake Garda is located in the north of Italy and is the country's largest lake. This stunning area is also an incredibly popular tourist and holiday destination. The large wide area in the south consists of multiple morainic hills, while the northern area is enclosed with steep mountains that provide a warm Mediterranean climate. Lake Gada really is the perfect location to enjoy a relaxing holiday surrounded by its lush olive trees and the clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

One exciting area of Lake Gada, that is particularly popular with holiday makers is Malcesine. This small town is located along the eastern shores of Lake Gada in the north of Italy. The town boasts a majestic castle, as well as winding cobbled streets. Rising above the town is the large mountain range of Monte Baldo, which is an impressive sight in itself. As well as tourists enjoying the many delights that Malcesine has to offer them, the town also makes for a very good base, as it has excellent connections to nearby ports via its working ferry, as well as a running cablecar to the top of Monte Baldo. Many choose to go up to the mountains for a day cycling or paragliding. There is so much for visitors to enjoy while in the area. The town has many winding lanes in which to explore the many shops, cafes and market squares.

The harbour is simply beautiful and is home to several small boats, and the old port of Porto Vecchio, has a wonderful restaurant teamed with stunning views. Any visit to Malcesine must also incorporate a visit to the Castle. Scaligero, which is admittedly the town's largest tourist attraction. Dating all the way back to the thirteenth century, the Castle is a popular venue for couples to get married in as well as being a thriving museum.
Another popular building in the town is that of the Palazzo dei Capitani, that dates back all the way to the fifteenth century. It was originally built to house the Capitani del Lago, who ruled the area. The south of the town is also well worth exploring with idyllic bathing spots and seaside cafes. There are also many opportunities to hire parasols and sunbeds.

Lake Gada has so much to offer the holidaymaker, with its breathtaking views, historical buildings and stunning shorelines.
