Among the most picturesque tourist locations is to visit is Lake Garda. Situated in Northern Italy between Brecia and Verona this alpine region was formed in the Ice Age. This relaxing holiday destination will appeal to all visitors of any age. Lake Garda is an impressive 51.6km by 16.7km at its longest and widest points and holds a plethora of small islands.

One of the most stunning lake-side destinations is Malcesine which is situated on the Eastern shore of the lake. From this historic town, Lake Garda, and its beauty is accessible by many means, including organised boat excursions.

Lazise is a great way to start an historic tour around the lake. The next port of call is Punta San Vigilio, famous for its stunning mermaids bay and taverns.

Torri del Benaco is next on this whistle stop tour which is swiftly followed by the Gardine Riviera and finally the Isola Borghese. For a more sedate tour various places of interest can be visited at a leisurely pace.

In Sirmione you must visit the  Scaliger Castle (one of the best preserved castle in Italy) then move on to the Grotte di Catullo and the remains of its Roman Villa.

Isola del Garda A two hour trip will mean you can visit the stunning clear waters surrounding this island. Host to its elegant Venetian-neo Gothic building, home to many of the great Italian names.

More information on places to visit whilst in Malcesine is readily available either on-line or via boat excursion companies in the port. Most of the islands are accessible by boat.
