Sports at lake Garda

Sports at lake Garda

Thinking of a trip that combines the beautiful weather of Italy with all the sporting delights to get your blood pumping ? Then why not take yourself to Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, a popular holiday destination located in northern Italy. The lake is well known for its many sports and as you can guess with it being a lake a lot of the sports you can enjoy are water based but that does not mean there isn’t many other things to enjoy in and around the lake and its surrounding areas. So where start ?

Let’s make it easy and start on the water :
Windsurfing is a popular sport on the Lake and Torbole at the north of the lake is the windsurfing capital and has hosted many of the worlds best windsurfers.
Sailing is very popular on the lake and there are many sailing schools on the lake so it’s great for anyone from novice to professional. Kite surfing is a relatively new water sport and its popularity on the lake is growing everyday with the great winds and loads of space it is the perfect venue. For the more extreme individual there is waterskiing and jetskiing available but only in certain areas of the lake and should be looked into prior to commencing. Also with the lake being so vast there is plenty of opportunity for scuba diving or a bit of snorkelling for those who prefer the view from the surface.

Off the lake you also have numerous pursuits you can enjoy. There is various mountain bike and running trails and for the adventurous why not do a Lake Garda marathon. If even more adventure is your thing rock climbing at the north end of the lake is available and once you’ve climbed up then why not jump off as there is paragliding from around the same location. Or go skiing on the high ridges at Northern Lake Garda at Monte Baldo or elsewhere in the Dolomites. If none of this is for you and you want something else golf, tennis, fishing and hiking are also available so whatever you fancy why not book up and go see for yourself.
