Many people book holidays to Lake Garda in Italy, because it is an incredibly well known tourist spot. Not a lot of people know that also, there is a town called Garda which is a commune on the shore of the lake itself. While it attracts tourism by default from the tourists coming to the lake, it isn't a town that directly gets tourists coming to book just for them. As well as the beauty of the lake, the town captures a screenshot of traditional Italy which is a must see for any tourists thinking of visiting the region.

Garda is located conveniently on the shore of the lake itself, which means it is pretty easy to get to. Even if you are not staying nearby, you will be able to get to it from most places around the lake. It is located in the Italian province of Verona, in the region of Veneto in North Eastern Italy.

As well as take in the breathtaking scenery of the lake, there are many tourist attractions in the town of Garda, especially for those looking to see a bit of Italy at it's most characteristic.

Villa degli Albertini is a traditional Italian villa located in the town. Although very similar in size and style to the other villas of the times, this one is famed for its magnolia trees.

Another place is the parish church Santa Maria Assunta dating from the 6th or 7th century. It was completely rebuilt by Giovanni Matteo Giberti, but took a number of years due to lack of funds. the side alter contains the statue 'Madonna and Child', which is one of the more famous landmarks of the small town.

There is also the Rocca of Garda : the castle is a must for anyone spending the day in Garda. it has panoramic views of the lake, and is also located close by to a 15th century monastery.

One simply cannot go to Garda without visiting the lake itself, even if it is by accident. As the commune is on the shore of the lake, there are plenty pf places to eat and drink and things to do that have been centred around the lakes beautiful shores. There are also a selection of activities to do in and around the lake.
